Shuckers Snapshot: The Shuckers were licking their wounds have being throttled by the NoVa Hawks last weekend 138-119. The loss ended Bay Area’s record 4-0 start and four-game win streak. In the loss Rocky Coleman led with 28 points followed by Gus Chase with 21 and Evan Martin added 20. Leading scorer Terry Hosley was not available for the contest. The Shuckers are 8-1 all-time against Northern Conference opponents in the regular season. Their last, and only, loss to a Northern opponent was to the Garden State Rebels 116-112 on March 3, 2012.
Thunder Snapshot: South Jersey is an American Professional Basketball League (APBL) expansion team. After winning their first two games in APBL action, they dropped the next two, but rebounded with victories over the North Jersey Pros and the Brooklyn Blazers. Despite being an expansion team they are packed with experience. This week they announced the signing of DeJuan Wagner. Considered by many to be the best high school ball player in New Jersey history, Wagner once posted 100 points for Camden High School. A first round pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2002 he spent parts of four seasons in the NBA. Also on the roster are Albert Fisher, with four years pro overseas experience, Charron Fisher, with six pro seasons under his belt, including five overseas, and Tyrone Hill, who was the APBL 6th Man of the Year last season for the Destroyers and a finalist in the King of the Rock one-on-one tournament on Alcatraz.
Outlook: After a tough loss last weekend the Shuckers jump right into the fray against a very tough South Jersey Thunder team. To get back on the winning track Bay Area will have to reduce the errors and bring a stronger defense than the one that gave up a Shuckers’ near record 138 points against the Hawks. The Thunder were loaded with weapons already and then added Wagner. Terry Hosley should rejoin a Shuckers line-up that features three All-League players. Should be a shoot-out.
Entertainment Outlook: The Shuckers will celebrate the holidays with special outfits and holiday performances by the Bay Area Shuckers Dance Team and Santa will be in the house with candy canes for the kids! Look for contests sponsored by The Bank of Glen Burnie, Fatties Bar and Grill, Buffalo Wild Wings, Crush Kitchen and Winehouse, and the Natty Boh Gear t-shirt toss. Also, the Buffalo Wild Wings Fan of the Game, the Coffee News Player of the Game, and the Mojo Web Solutions Mojo Zone winners! After the game join the Shuckers at Shuckers Tap and Grill located at 7954 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd, Glen Burnie, Maryland 20160.
