Record Breaking Win, Clinches Tie for Colonial Division Title
Severn, MD (February 16, 2013) - The Bay Area Shuckers (9-4) pulled to within one game of wrapping up the Colonial Division championship with a resounding 143-117 victory over the Hudson Valley Kingz (6-4).
Rocky Coleman (Walbrook/Towson) led the Shuckers with 33 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Danny Thompson had 18 points, 25 rebounds and four blocks while Gus Chase (St. Frances) added 26 points and seven rebounds.
Thompson's 25 rebounds set a new Shuckers franchise record and also tied the American Professional Basketball League (APBL) record. The Shuckers also set team marks for most points scored in a regulation time game (143) and largest margin of victory (26).
The Shuckers win coupled with the Winchester Storm's (3-7) 120-110 loss to the Rockville Victors (9-1) clinched at least a tie for the Colonial Division title by the Shuckers. Bay Area can wrap up the title with just one win in their final three regular season games or one loss by Winchester in its final six games.
Next weekend the Shuckers host the Alexandria Avengers (2-9) on Saturday at 7:00 PM, while Winchester travel to Rockville to face the Victors again.
