Shuckers Take Battle of Division Leaders

Severn,  MD (January 26, 2013) The Bay Area Shuckers (6-3) earned their second straight win in a match-up of American Professional Basketball League (APBL) division leaders by defeating the Palmieri Jeans Destroyers (9-2) 122-121 in overtime. The Destroyers entered the game riding a six-game win streak.

Rocky Coleman led the Shuckers with 35 points and added three rebounds and four assists. Terry Hosley had 27 points with six assists and three steals. Danny Thompson led the Shuckers with 14 rebounds and also contributed 24 points. Ameer Ali had 11 points and five rebounds coming of the bench. 

With the win the Shuckers are now 4-1 at home this season. They also are now 2-0 against the Destroyers at home all-time. Last season the Shuckers defeated the Destroyers 133-123 on February 18, 2012 handing the then 7-0 Destroyers their first loss of the season. This year, the Destroyers entered the game 9-1, and the top ranked team in the Northern Conference.

The Shuckers return to action next weekend at home on Saturday, February 2nd at 7:00 PM when they face the Metropolitan All-Stars (10-1). This will be another match-up of division leaders as the Shuckers maintained their hold on the Colonial Division, while the All-Stars lead the Patriot Division.
