Severn, MD (January 11, 2013) – The Bay Area Shuckers announced the signing of Jabril Bailey, a 6’4” guard from Slippery Rock University, who will be entering his third season as a pro. A Delaware resident, Bailey also previously played in Maryland for Cecil College.

“We continue to work to make the roster as solid as possible as we head into the mid-point of the season. Jabril has been successful at the high school, JUCO, and university level, and I expect nothing different from him with the Shuckers,” noted Bay Area Shuckers General Manager John Wolfe.

A 2006 graduate of Delcastle Technical High School in Wilmington, Delaware, Bailey was named First Team All-State as a senior after averaging 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists per game. He then started his collegiate career with Cecil College.

For the Seahawks in 2007-2008 he averaged 15.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists, while earning Third Team All-Region 20 honors as a redshirt freshman. Cecil finished the season at 31-1, captured the Maryland JUCO conference regular-season and tournament titles and was ranked number-one in the final regular season NJCAA Division II poll.

In 2008-2009 Bailey made the leap from Cecil to NCAA Division 1 Campbell University. For the Camels he saw action in all but one game and started two games as a sophomore. He averaged 5.0 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.6 assists and had five double-digit scoring games posting a season-high 15 points against at VMI, 13 points at Appalachian State and versus UNC-Pembroke, 11 points against Jacksonville and 10 points at East Carolina.

Bailey then made the move to Slippery Rock University for his final two years of collegiate ball and made an instant impact. As a junior he started 27 games and posted 14.6 points and 7.4 rebounds a game to earn Second-Team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) honors. During the 2009-2010 season he compiled seven double-doubles and had a career-high 14 rebounds against the University of District of Columbia and a career-best 31 points against Mercyhurst.

In his final collegiate season he again earned Second Team All-Conference honors, while starting in 31 of 32 games for “The Rock.” He boosted his scoring average to 15.1 points per game, grabbed six rebounds a contest, and chipped in 2.4 assists per game. His scoring mark ranked him 12th in the PSAC. He also ranked second on the team in offensive rebounds (65), defensive rebounds (126), assists (76), steals (30) and blocked shots (17). Bailey had season-high 24 points at California (Pa.), while making a career-high five three-pointers against the Vulcans.

In 2011 he made his professional debut playing in the Eurobasket Summer League for Team Kiev and averaged 6.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. In the 2011-2012 season Bailey signed with the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Steamers of the Premier Basketball League where he saw action in nine games.
