
Former Shuckers Bowie, White Successful Overseas
Severn, MD (January 9, 2013) – Two Former Bay Area Shuckers are making their mark overseas. Former Guard Adrian Bowie (Maryland) and Forward Zac White (Washington and Lee) have taken their Shuckers experience to the next level.
“We’re very proud to see our players go overseas and move to the next level of pro basketball. Zac just completed a successful season in Australia and has signed another contract. Adrian has become one of the top players in Germany; they both are making us very proud,” commented Bay Area Shuckers General Manager John Wolfe.
White averaged 7.15 points and 4.77 rebounds per game and led the Shuckers with 25 blocks in 2011-2012, The 6’6” forward just completed a season with the Darwin Lightning of the Darwin Basketball Association in Australia. He led the Lightning with 20.50 points per game, ranked sixth in the league in scoring and was named Most Valuable Player, while leading the Lightning to a regular season tie for first and the league semi-finals. He will be returning to Australia after signing a contract in December with the Penguin Blues of the North West Basketball Union.
In 2011-2012, Bowie was named the league’s All-Star Game Most Valuable Player and 1st Team All-League for the Shuckers, while leading Bay Area with 28.82 points and 5.73 assists per game. He currently is playing for the Hertener Lions of the German Bundesliga Pro B and is averaging 19.08 points, 3.62 rebounds, and 2.38 assists per game. The Lions are currently in second place.
The Bay Area Shuckers are members of the APBL a 16-team professional league with teams stretching from Virginia in the south to the Hudson Valley of New York, and includes team in such major markets as Baltimore, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and New York, New York.
