Shuckers Snapshot: For the first time in Shuckers history, three players scored 30 points in a game in the win over the Storm, as Terry Hosley (38), Rocky Coleman (33), and Gus Chase (31) all broke the 30 point mark. Danny Thompson posted a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds and continues to lead Bay Area in rebounds with 14.17 boards a game. With Thompson fouling out last week, Anthony Thomas had a strong defensive effort and grabbed five rebounds. Mike McKenzie had another impressive effort from the point with nine assists and leads the team with 6.83 assists per game.
Victors Snapshot: After an early season 108-106 loss to the Patriot Division leading Metropolitan All-Stars (8-1) Rockville has reeled off five straight wins. The Victors have played stingy defense, by American Professional Basketball League (APBL) standards allowing just 97.57 points a game, countered by a scoring average of 115.71. This compares to a potent Shuckers offense, which has averaged 122.5, while giving up 118.33 points a game.
Outlook: This is the first of three games on the road for the Shuckers where they will face the Victors(6-1) and then next weekend travel to two division rivals, the Nova Hawks (2-5) and the West Virginia Monarchs (1-3). A good outcome sets them up nicely for the second half of the season, where they will then play six straight home games. The Victors, in their first season in the APBL have taken the league by storm, and look to continue their momentum before they play a home and away match-up against the defending APBL champions, the Beltway Bombers (5-1).
