Team Posts Franchise High 155 Points in Win over League Newcomer Metropolitan
Severn, MD (October 13, 2012) - The Bay Area Shuckers tipped-off their 2012-2013 season with a 155-88 exhibition win over the Metropolitan All-Stars on Saturday night at the Kilby Center located on the campus of Annapolis Area Christian School. The Shuckers were led by Fahreed Cheatham, who signed with the club in the off-season, with 23 points, Rocky Coleman (Walbrook/Towson) with 18 points, Dennard Abraham (Towson) with 16 points, and Danny Thompson (Mount St. Marys) and Terry Hosley (Parkville/Maryland Bible) who both added 14 points. Thompson led Bay Area with 12 rebounds, while Gerald Stansbury (Broadneck) grabbed eight boards and Cheatham pulled down six rebounds. Thompson also led the Shuckers with five blocked shots in his professional debut.
The Metropolitan All-Stars are a new entry in the American Professional Basketball League (APBL) and are based in Prince George's County, Maryland.
The Shuckers are scheduled to take on a team of Army All-Stars on October 27th in their final preseason tune-up before opening the regular season on November 3rd at the North Jersey Pros. Their home opener is scheduled for November 17th against the NoVa Hawks.
