Baltimore Area Products Signed by Shuckers

Addis (CCBC Essex), Edwards (Coppin State), Hunt (Broadneck), McKenzie (Meade) Sign

Severn, MD (September 12, 2012) – The Bay Area Shuckers announced the signing of Joe Addis (Dundalk/CCBC Essex), Rodney Edwards (Coppin State), Kevin Hunt (Broadneck/AACC), and Mareno McKenzie (Meade). All four players are currently in Shuckers training camp competing for sports on the local professional team’s 2012-2013 roster.

“All four of these players are examples of the quality basketball players that the Baltimore area produces at the prep and collegiate level,” said Bay Area Shuckers General Manager John Wolfe.

Joe Addis, a point guard, played prep ball at Dundalk High School for the Owls and collegiately for Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC-Essex) in 2009-2010. For Essex he averaged 4.67 points and 1.5 assists per game. Edwards, from Wheaton High School, played one season for Harford Community College, before moving up to NCAA Division 1 Coppin State for the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons.

The Shuckers also signed two Anne Arundel County products. Kevin Hunt who was a leading rebounder at Broadneck High School and played in 2008-2009 for Anne Arundel Community College, averaging 7 points and 6.08 rebounds per game. In 2009-2010 he was second on the team with 8.36 rebounds per game and was fourth for the Pioneers in scoring with 12.36 points per game. Mareno McKenzie (brother of the Shuckers Mike McKenzie), is from Meade High School where he actually made a name for himself on the wrestling mat.

The Bay Area Shuckers are members of the American Professional Basketball League (APBL) and are scheduled to tip-off their season in early November. For more information on the Bay Area Shuckers please visit www.BayAreaShuckers.com.
