Shay Meador Brings Extensive Dance, Coaching, Director Experience

Severn, MD (September 8, 2012) – The Bay Area Shuckers actually includes two very important teams that provide excitement, fun, and dazzling moves for Shucker fans. The Shuckers took the first crucial step in building the Bay Area Shuckers Dance Team, by naming Shay Meador as the Dance Team Director and Coach.

“Shay’s whole life has been focused on dancing. She has an extensive background in dancing as a youth, in high school, college, and after college, while gaining expertise as a dance team captain, coach and teacher. We’re also proud that she was a member of our dance team last season and now has stepped up to be our Director,” said Bay Area Shuckers General Manager John Wolfe.

Shay started dancing at the Julie Rogers Studio of Dance in Huntingtown, Maryland as young dance in 1989 and continued with the studio through 2005. She performed in dance competitions via the dance studio from 1991 through 2005 in tap, jazz, musical theater and lyrical performances.  During that time (1998-2001) she was also a member of the Northern Middle School Pom Squad in Owings, Maryland and was Captain in 2000-2001.

At Northern High School in Owings, she was a member of the Pom Squad from 2001 through 2005 and served as the Co-Captain in 2004-2005. Shay then travelled east to attend Salisbury University where she continued dancing as a member of the Salisbury University Dance Company from 2006 to 2009. Shay choreographed two student works at the Dance Company's Fall Showcases in 2007 and 2008.  She was an original member and Co-Captain of the Salisbury University Pom Squad, which was created in 2008.

Shay was a Dance Teacher at D'Ann Danse Studio in Salisbury in 2008 and 2009 and was an original member of the Bay Area Shuckers Dance Team in the 2011-2012 season, while concurrently serving as one of three Dance Coaches at Studio 310 in Rockville, Maryland overseeing four competitive hip hop dance teams.

Shay commented, “I'm excited to have another opportunity to be a Bay Area Shuckers Dance Team member this year, but also have the opportunity to be the Dance Team Director and Coach.  I look forward to an awesome season!"

The Bay Area Shuckers are members of the American Professional Basketball League (APBL) and are scheduled to tip-off their season in early November. For more information on the Bay Area Shuckers please visit
