Training Camp Roster Will be Set Following Final Tryouts

Severn, MD (August 14, 2012) – The Bay Area Shuckers held a productive tryout last weekend and now seek to shape their training camp roster following a final tryout this weekend on Saturday, August 18th.

“We are bringing a number of players back from our first tryout and will be taking a look at some new players this weekend. Following this weekend’s workout, Coach [Bob] Topp will have some tough decisions to get to our final training camp roster,” stated Shuckers General Manager John Wolfe.

The tryout will be held at Leadership Through Athletics, which is located at 2900 Hammonds Ferry Road, Lansdowne, MD 21227, on Saturday, August 11th. Registration/check-in will start at 6:00 PM and tryouts will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 PM. The tryout is open to all interested players.

Last weekend’s tryouts included players with Division 1 through Division 3 NCAA experience, some with a pro background, and others who have made a name for themselves on the courts of Baltimore and the surrounding area.

The registration fee for the tryouts is $50. Cash and credit cards will be accepted. Players may pre-register for a discounted fee of $40. Pre-registration may be done at

The Bay Area Shuckers are members of the American Professional Basketball League (APBL), a professional basketball league in major metropolitan areas including Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Manhattan, New York, and Brooklyn, New York.

Four Shuckers players from last season have played or are scheduled to play overseas this year including Adrian Bowie (Germany), Earl Jackson (Peru), Zac White (Australia), and Jamarr Johnson (Indonesia).

The Shuckers will tip-off their second season training camp on September 6th with the season starting in mid-October.
