Shuckers Score Shorts For Second Season

Former Delaware All-State, Bryan College All-Conference Selectee Returns to Shuckers

Severna Park, MD (August 13, 2012) – Third-year veteran Lamarr Shorts, who was a solid member of the Bay Area Shuckers in their inaugural season, re-signed with the local pro club for the 2012-2013 season.

“Lamarr was a vital part of our team all last season and showed he could be a point producer late in the year. I know he has been working hard during the offseason, so I am looking forward to see the progress he has made as camp starts,” commented Shuckers General Manager John Wolfe

From Bear, Delaware, the 6’2”, 205 pound Shorts started his pro career with the Southern Indiana Generals of the Kentucky Basketball Developmental League in 2009. For the Generals he averaged 16 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals per game. In 2010 he played for ABA Strumica in the Macedonian First Basketball League. For Strumica he posted 15 points and four rebounds a game.

For the 2011-2012 season Shorts was signed by the Shuckers following an open tryout in August. After training camp he earned a spot on the team’s roster. He played in 13 of the Shuckers 14 games. After averaging 5.6 points per game in his first ten contests of the season, Shorts posted 18.66 points per game in his final three games of the season, including a season-high 31 points in the Shuckers regular season finale against the Palmieri Jeans. For his efforts he was named the Coffee News Player of the Game. On the season he averaged 8.08 points, 1.92 rebounds, and 1 assist per game.

At Delaware’s Milford Senior High, Shorts was an All-Conference and All-State performer for the Buccaneers averaging 15 points per game, ten rebounds a game, and three assists each contest.

Shorts started his college career with Liberty University before transferring to Bryan College of Tennessee. At Bryan he was a three-year letterman and captain for the Lions and earned All-Appalachian Athletic Conference honors his season year.

The Shuckers open training camp in September and the season is scheduled to tip-off in October. For more information on the Bay Area Shuckers, or to order season tickets, please visit www.BayAreaShuckers.com.
