Ministry Tour On and Off the Court Set for July
Severn, MD (May 31, 2012) – During the Bay Area Shuckers inaugural season in 2011-2012 Jamarr Johnson made a name for himself on the court in his rookie professional season. The former Widener University standout was one of the team’s top scorers tossing in 15.27 points per game and he led the team with 8.26 rebounds per game. Now he will take his love for basketball and God to Brazil as part of the Athletes in Action ministry.
“This tour will give me an experience I will probably remember for the rest of my life. I will be able to grow in both basketball and in my faith. I see this tour as the best of both worlds and am truly grateful for the opportunity,” commented Johnson.
The tour team, which will consist of players with professional and college experience, will take place from July 8th through July 25th and kick-off in Recife, Brazil. It will consist of competitive games and instructional clinics with university and local club teams and will be preceded by a brief training camp in the United States.
“We’re proud Jamarr was selected for the Athletes in Action tour. He is a quality man on and off the court and I’m happy he is getting this experience of a lifetime,” said Shuckers General Manager John Wolfe.
