Bay Area’s All-ACPBL 1st Team Selection Signed by Bundesliga Team
Severn, MD (May 6, 2012) – The Bay Area Shuckers announced today their All-ACPBL 1st Team Guard, Adrian Bowie, has been signed by Hertener Loewen of Germany’s Bundesliga Pro B League.
“We appreciate everything Adrian has done for the Bay Area Shuckers on and off the court this season and wish him nothing but the best. One of our main goals when we founded the Shuckers was to give players the forum to showcase their talents and then move on; I am happy we were able to do that for Adrian,” commented Shuckers General Manager John Wolfe.
Signed by the Shuckers in December after a 0-3 start, Bowie quickly made an impact on the Shuckers as they won his first three games with the team and averaged 136 points a game. In a 149-148 overtime win over the Beltway Bombers on January 28th, Bowie scored a Shuckers record 43 points while adding seven assists and three rebounds. For his efforts he was named the ACPBL Player of the Week.
The former Maryland Terrapin was also named the Coffee News Shuckers Player of the Game four times, was nominated for the ACPBL MVP Award, and finished second in fan voting for league MVP. He also was named the MVP of the 2011-2012 The Bank of Glen Burnie ACPBL All-Star Game. For the season he played in 11 games averaging 28.82 points, 5.73 assists, and 4.55 rebounds per game.
The Hertener Loewen Lions are members of the Bundesliga Pro B League; part of Germany’s national league system. In 2010-2011 they finished second in the regular season with a 17-7 record and fell in the league semi-finals.
On the Lions website coach Dirk Altenbeck said, “After the extension of the commitment of Christopher Hackenesch, Bowie is another important piece of the puzzle. For me he is the prototype of a player's development. He can read the game well defended, to throw, is very dynamic, fast and athletic.”
