Adrian Bowie Named 1st Team All-ACPBL, Hosley Third Team Selection
Severn, MD (April 30, 2012) – The Bay Area Shuckers announced today that two players on the first year team’s roster were named All-Atlantic Coast Professional Basketball League (ACPBL). Guard Adrian Bowie was named All-ACPBL 1st Team, while fellow guard, Terry Hosley, was a 3rd Team All-ACPBL Selection.
“As an expansion team we’re doubly proud to have two players named All-ACPBL. Adrian and Terry were both vital parts of our success this year,” commented Shuckers General Manager John Wolfe.
Signed in December after a 0-3 start, Bowie quickly made an impact on the Shuckers as they won his first three games with the team and averaged 136 points a game. In a 149-148 overtime win over the Beltway Bombers on January 28th, Bowie scored a Shuckers record 43 points while adding seven assists and three rebounds. For his efforts he was named the ACPBL Player of the Week.
The former Maryland Terrapin was also named the Coffee News Shuckers Player of the Game four times, was nominated for the ACPBL MVP Award, and finished second in fan voting for league MVP. He also was named the MVP of the 2011-2012 The Bank of Glen Burnie ACPBL All-Star Game. For the season he played in 11 games averaging 28.82 points, 5.73 assists, and 4.55 rebounds per game.
Hosley was one of the first players signed by the Shuckers and quickly became one of the league’s high scorers and a fan favorite. In the Shuckers first five games of the season he was the team’s leading scorer, including 42 points in a 121-113 loss at the Delaware Destroyers on December 18, 2011. He twice was named the Shuckers Player of the Game.
The 6’0” guard from Maryland Bible College also was selected for the ACPBL All-Star Game and participated in both the three-point and slam dunk competitions; finishing second in the slam dunk battle. This season for the Shuckers he played in 13 games and posted 26.62 points, 3.38 rebounds, and 3.23 assists per contest. He also led Bay Area with 29 steals and 21 three-pointers.
