Second Round Game at Beltway Bombers or Hartford Lightning Awaits First Year Team
Severn, MD (April 16, 2012) – The Atlantic Coast Professional Basketball League (ACPBL) informed the Bay Area Shuckers on Monday morning that they have clinched a first round bye in the upcoming ACPBL playoffs and they will play at either the Beltway Bombers of the Washington D.C. area or the Hartford (Connecticut) Lightning in a second round game on April 28th or 29th.
“We’re very proud as a first-year team to earn a first round bye in the ACPBL playoffs. The playoffs will be extremely competitive, including a tough second round road game, but Coach Topp now has two weeks to get the team prepared and I know they will be ready,” commented Shuckers General Manager John Wolfe.
After a 0-3 start the Shuckers went 4-1 in a five-game home stand to pull their record to 4-4. Following a two game losing streak the Shuckers finished the season 2-2, including a 152-138 loss at the Palmieri Jeans (12-1) this past Saturday in Philadelphia.
The ACPBL playoffs feature first round games with the #7 seed hosting the #10 seed and the #8 hosting the #9. The #1 and #2 seeds will host the winners of the #7 vs. #10 and #8 vs. #9 match-ups in the second round while the #3 seed will host #6 and #4 will host #5.
With their 6-8 record the Shuckers clinched the ACPBL’s #6 seed. They now await their second round fate. This Saturday the Palmieri Jeans (12-1) travel to the Beltway Bombers (10-3). A Bombers win will earn them the league’s #2 seed and send the Shuckers to Hartford to face the Lightning (11-3). A Bombers loss would give them the #3 seed and they would host the Shuckers in a second round game.
The ACPBL Final Four will take place in Hartford on May 5th and 6th.
