Fan Appreciation Night Features Giveaways, Contests, and Magic Show!
Severn, MD (March 21, 2012) – When the Bay Area Shuckers announced they were bringing pro basketball to Anne Arundel County almost a year ago, most didn’t know what to expect. With nearly a full season under their belt fans now know they can expect high scoring basketball action, loud, packed houses, and contests, giveaways, and more for a full night of pro sports entertainment.
This Saturday, March 24th at 7:00 PM the Shuckers are saying thanks to their fans with Fan Appreciation Night. The first 100 fans in attendance will receive the third in a set of Shuckers Autographed Cards and the first 200 children in attendance will receive a free book, “The Magic Show.” Shuckers fans will also be entertained by The Magic of Dr. Don Sharpe.
“It’s just our way of saying thanks to the strong fan support we received this year. We have been truly amazed by the way fans have embraced the team. To hear them chanting DEE-FENSE at the end of the game, to see “The Reef,” distracting the opposing players when they shoot, and to see all the handshakes and autographs taking place after each game has been tremendous,” commented Shuckers General Manager John Wolfe.
In addition to showing fans thanks with all the giveaways and entertainment, the Shuckers (5-7) hope to give their fans a show on the basketball court too. In eight home games Bay Area has gone 4-4 while averaging 126 points a game. Included in those four wins was a 131-108 win over the Manhattan Pride (1-9) who the Shuckers face this weekend.
The Pride have been led by Forward Kareem Corprew who posted 35 points and 14 rebounds in the Pride’s last outing and Kareem Bernard who tossed in 28 points in 10 rebounds in the 159-110 loss to the 11-1 Palmieri Jeans.
The Shuckers continue to be bolstered by Guards Adrian Bowie and Terry Hosley, both of which were named to the ACPBL All-Star Game last week. Bowie is among the league leaders in scoring averaging 31.25 points per game and has posted 4.88 rebounds and 6.63 assists a game, while snagging 20 steals. He has been named Coffee News Player of the Game four times and was the ACPBL Player of the Week for his 43 point, 7 assist and three rebound performance in the Shuckers 149-148 overtime win over the Beltway Bombers on January 31st.
Hosley has scored 27.60 points per game while averaging 3.20 rebounds and 2.80 assist per contest. He also has 21 steals and has hit 15 three-pointers this season. Hosley twice has been named the Coffee News Player of the Game.
The Shuckers home venue is the Kilby Center located on the campus of Annapolis Area Christian School located at 109 Burns Crossing Road in Severn, Maryland. The game against the Pride tips-off at 7:00 PM with gates open at 6:00 PM. In just their first season the Shuckers are battling for a first round bye in the ACPBL Playoffs with just two games remaining on their regular season schedule.
